Dr Susan Cooper

Senior partner and CQC Registered Manager

BM 1982 SOUTHAMPTON DRCOG MRCGP

After qualifying from Southampton in 1982, I joined Newbridge in 1989. My special interests are women's health and contraception, mental health and joint problems. I am a GP trainer and an appraiser of local GPs. I have three grown up sons who still keep me busy outside of work!

I like to go running with my dog and have recently started participating in Parkrun, although very slowly.  I enjoy walking in the mountains and very much enjoy long distance cycling. I have cycled Land's End to John O'Groats, St Malo to Nice and cycled around Spain and Italy in 2015.

Dr Ruth Grabham

MB BS 1987 LONDON DRCOG MRCGP

I qualified from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in London in 1987 and came to Newbridge Surgery in 1991, becoming a partner in 1993, where I am the managing partner.

In the last 25 years, I have very much enjoyed looking after my patients, from the young to the elderly and the variety and continuity that general practice medicine offers.

In that time I have also helped to set up and chair the out of hours service and worked as ac cardiology clinical assistant at the RUH.

Since 2011, I have been fortunate to able to use that experience, to work for our local clinical commissioning group, which is the organisation responsible for planning and purchasing most of the NHS services in our area.

I am currently Medical Director and board member of Bath and North East Somerset CCG and am the clinical lead for the redesign of our diabetes services and primary care

Dr Matt Brooks

MB ChB 1999 LEICESTER MRCGP DRCOG

After graduating from Leicester then completing my GP training in Worcester, I joined Newbridge in 2005. I enjoy the diverse range of problems seen in general practice, including men’s health, and I perform some joint injections. Much of my time outside work is spent looking after my two young children.

I also enjoy cycling and answer medical questions for a cycling magazine. I volunteer for Sustrans, the charity behind the National Cycle Network, and play the trumpet in the Bath All Comers Orchestra.

Dr Shanil Mantri

MBBS 2001 London DRCOG nMRCGP

On Sabbatical from May 2017

I qualified from Kings College London in 2001 and initially trained as a surgeon. A change of heart led me to begin GP training in Bath in 2007. I qualified in 2009 and have been working as a freelance GP in the Bath/Wiltshire for several years. I began working regularly at Newbridge since February 2012.

I live locally and have a growing small family which keeps me occupied. I am also a board member for BANES CCG.

Dr Clare Amos

MB ChB 1990 BRISTOL MRCGP

I trained at Bristol University Medical School then as a GP with Newbridge Surgery in 1994/95. I have continued to work here ever since and currently do two and a half days per week.

As well as seeing the full range of general practice problems, I perform some minor surgery. I am a mother to two young children.
